Getting battery selection right

A battery only works if it's matched to your inverter. Two things decide compatibility — get them right before you buy.

Factor Why it matters
Voltage class (HV vs LV) High-voltage and low-voltage batteries are not interchangeable — the inverter is built for one or the other. Confirm the class before pairing.
Communication protocol The inverter and battery BMS must speak the same protocol (CAN/RS485). Pairing off the approved list often means no comms and no charging.
Capacity & C-rate The battery's continuous charge/discharge rate must meet the inverter's demand, and total kWh should match daily load and backup needs.
