The new 48V WeCo 5K3 XP lithium battery features a dual Battery Management System (BMS) designed for both high and low voltage applications.

 

This model boasts over 7,800 discharge cycles at full capacity (100%). It comes equipped with WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, along with a monitoring app included as standard.

 

The system supports expansion with up to 15 batteries in parallel by default.

 

Utilizing the HUB, it can be further expanded to accommodate up to 105 batteries, providing 556 kWh of usable energy at 48 volts and up to 768 kWh at high voltage.

 

The battery supports nominal currents of 1C and peak currents of 2C, and it comes with a standard 10-year warranty.

Advantages of the new WeCo 5.3 kWh XP Lithium battery:

The WeCo 5K3 XP lithium battery is the new model from WeCo. It has improvements over the previous 5K3 HV/LV model such as the introduction of integrated WiFi and Bluetooth as standard. With the new WeCo 5K3 XP we can make up to 15 parallels without additional accessories. The WeCo 5K3 XP has a new generation BMS with dynamic equalizer. WeCo 5K3 XP It is the only lithium battery model on the market patented to operate at high and low voltage thanks to a double BMS.


The WeCo lithium battery has a 10-year warranty.

The main advantages of the WeCo 5K3 lithium batteries are:

  • Universal Compatibility : Weco lithium battery has the highest compatibility on the market and can work with communication with the main brands on the market such as Deye, Studer, Schneider, Solax, Victron, Sofar Solar, Voltronic, SMA, Growatt, Goodwee, Imeon...

  • Double BMS for low and high voltage: The 5K3 XP battery has a double BMS and a double connection port. If we want to use it at low voltage at 48V we will use the CAN A output and the Low Voltage connection port. If, on the other hand, we want to use it at High Voltage we will use the CAN B output and the High Voltage quick connector port. For High Voltage it is necessary to purchase the WeCo HV Box accessory.

  • Allows 100% discharges : The WeCo lithium battery has 7,800 cycles at 100% discharge . We can fully discharge the battery and use its full capacity. In addition, if we perform less deep discharges, such as 80%, we increase the cycles to more than 10,000.

  • 1C charge and discharge intensity: The WeCo lithium battery allows charging and discharging at 1C, so with a single WeCo 5K3 Lithium battery we can charge and discharge at more than 5,500 Wh (110 Ah) nominal. In just 1 hour we can achieve a 90% charge and we can use 5 kW power inverters with a single battery without warranty problems. In addition, we can discharge a peak of 2C (10,000 W) for 30 seconds to start high power consumption. Its active equalizer and special cell chemistry allow a charge and discharge intensity higher than many batteries on the market.

  • Extreme temperature operation: The WeCo 5K3 lithium battery can be discharged in an extreme temperature range of −20°C to +65°C and charged between −7°C and 55°C. No other lithium battery on the market has this temperature range. They are the only lithium batteries certified by telecommunications operators for desert environments. A mountain hut is also no problem with WeCo batteries, as their operating range is even greater than that of lead batteries.

WeCo has the best price per useful kWh of lithium on the market

When we buy a lithium battery we have to see what capacity we can use. This "useful" capacity is really what can be extracted from it and therefore it will be our reference for the sizing and calculations of the system. The WeCo lithium battery allows 5.3 kWh of useful power since its permitted discharge is 100% and would be equivalent to a 6.7 kWh battery with a permitted discharge of 80%.

Active balancer for the WeCo 5K3 XP battery

Unlike other lithium batteries, WeCo batteries use an active balancer that always ensures that the cells are equal and without loss of performance.

The active balancer of the WeCo battery, unlike passive systems, manages to exchange energy between the highest voltage cell and the lowest . Thanks to a charge transmission system between cells, the efficiency in charging and discharging is very high, minimizing the use of resistors and therefore heat dissipation.


Another advantage of the active balancer is that it can equalize high currents. Passive systems consume energy from the higher cells to equalize them and usually need a long time to equalize unbalanced cells, sometimes even several days. The active system of the WeCo battery can compensate high amounts of current between cells, so the compensation is immediate even at maximum charge or discharge current.

Below we can see how active balancing works. The red cell is the highest at any given time and the green cell is the lowest, and the balancer compensates for the differences in real time.

The WeCo Battery Balancer makes the difference compared to other lithium batteries and is crucial to maximizing longevity and reducing battery degradation with high intensity discharges.

WiFi and Bluetooth included in the new WeCo 5K3 XP

The WeCo 5K3 XP lithium battery comes with WiFi and Bluetooth included as standard. Using WiFi connectivity we can monitor the operation of the battery remotely and with Bluetooth we can perform real-time monitoring as well as many other features for the installer such as the protocol change tool and firmware update.

WeCo battery extension to 48 volts

The WeCo lithium battery is expandable and allows up to 15 batteries to be connected in parallel at 48V with the internal low voltage BMS without any accessories to make systems of up to 79.5 Wh useful. The universal WeCo 5K3 lithium battery comes standard with accessories to be installed in a wall-mounted manner (recommended for one unit only) or in a stacked manner (recommended for 2 or more units) using the brackets included in each battery package. It is not necessary to purchase an external cabinet or accessory for its mounting. Both mounting possibilities and their accessories are included with each WeCo battery as well as the parallel communication and power cables.

  • If we need to use more than 15 batteries we must purchase the HUB to be able to install up to a maximum of 105 units in 7 clusters of 15 batteries (556 useful kWh).

WeCo is the only dual lithium battery that can also be used at high voltage

  • The WeCo lithium battery, thanks to its double BMS, allows dual operation, so that, in addition to its use at 48 volts, by connecting it at high voltage we can create systems of up to 561.4 kWh.
